Song of The Day 1/31/15

Young and Beautiful- Lana Del Rey (From the Great Gatsby(2013) soundtrack)

So I end this week with the siren call of the lovely Jiggly Puff and her very retro kind of hauntingly grand contribution to the most recent interpretation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel that while I take my fair share of time to talk made shit on this woman I do legitimately does a good job of encompassing the novel more so then it’s theatrical versions but in a way that’s a good blend of modern and retro grooves that kind of lead it to be a very well flowing and kind of grand Ballad that I enjoy more than I care to admit to, but with that comes the end of Sountrack week hopefully you guys went though some of those old soundtracks you remember and have found a pretty sweet gem or two…

Song of the Day 1/30/15

Some Kind of Monster-Neon Trees (From Iron Man 3: Hero’s Fall Sountrack)

Yeah I’m rather upset that this bad ass little chugging Neon Tree’s gem is on a random Super hero Movie soundtrack that I honestly wouldn’t ever care for if it weren’t for the fact that it’s NEON FUCKING TREES and not only is it a good song it’s fucking great people it’s just the right amount of them doing a darker tinged tune that’s both rocking with a bit of that poppy charm that this band is rather good at doing and this song’s a good idea of the sound they really had going during Picture Show just before they decided to get more lyrically introspective in the album to come so if anything it’s a great transitional track that got absolutely no attention which is a damn shame because it’s rather great…

Song of the Day 1/29/15

The End is the Beginning is the End-The Smashing Pumpkins (Originally from the Batman and Robin Soundtrack)

So I’m going to give you guys some insight into me because when I was a little kid my favorite super hero was Batman and I remember because you know my taste in cinema wasn’t by any means refined watching the ever loving fuck out of this terrible fucking movie but awkwardly enough I wasn’t ever aware of the fact that the all mighty Smashing Pumpkins were on the soundtrack to that same shitty movie which blew my fucking mind when I learned that and in all honesty I only choose to keep the DVD just because it has the video of this overlooked bit of awesome that I sometimes find myself preferring over the more slower kind of chugging version that became popular a few years ago because of its inclusion in the Watchmen Trailer which ironically enough I first heard while I was watching Batman…that’s some full circle shit there people…

Song of the Day 1/28/15

Fried Day-Bizzie Bone (Originally on The Next Friday Soundtrack)

So this song is just honesty one of the most amusingly laid back tracks that I’ve probably heard from any member of Bone Thugs doing their own thing and the fact that it’s on the soundtrack to the sequel of the Citizen Cain of the 90’s is just you know a nice little bonus…

Song of the Day 1/27/15

So soundtracks their a fun way to take a bunch of people who have no purpose being on the same CD and giving them an outlet to basically market a Mix CD which in all honesty I only ever find to be any bit useful when they have a few choice tracks that I can nitpick or every once in a blue moon their just a place for any particular artist to hide some of their best hidden gems of tunes and that’s what I think I’m going to cover this week my favorite tunes from various soundtracks that I’ve heard over the years so let’s quit Bullshitting you people and get to probably the best song to ever be on a film soundtrack…

Party and Bullshit-The Notorious B.I.G.( Originally on who’s the Man Soundtrack)

You know as I get older I find myself being more of a Biggie guy and if there was a tune that probably convinced me to his utter bad assery it’d be this overlooked bit of awesome that was actually his debut track in the form of this very good times joint that is also my favorite tune to blast when I’ve knocked back a few brews…

Song of the Day 1/23/15

So I was recently on Buzzfeed and read an article about the new video for the Weeknds single Earned It from the upcoming Film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey and upon giving it a good listen and watching the video figured I could give my two cents.

First off though before I get into anything I am going to say that I do honestly feel a bit strange thinking about the fact that I'm listening to this very smooth crooner of a tune that's kind of equal parts old school with a very classic sounding musical arrangement and it's in a movie about a guy that makes a woman sign a contract vowing her virginity to him and proceeds to use her as a tool for his sadomasochistic desires which is kind of fucked up if you ask me but even with that in mind this songs smooth as fuck people and I can see it becoming a decent get down and groove kind of tune for a good amount of time to come.

As for the Video....well...there's a bevy of nice looking ladies shaking their asses in these weird looking panties with x's on their ass and black pasties while the Weeknd kind of just stands there in a nice suit with his offbeat funky fucking hair cut crooning these ladies before the main female lead of the movie comes down and tries to make being tied up like a fucking animal look sexy....I guess if that's your thing then yeah go for it and make sure to keep your headphones in while you try to make sure nobody catches you watching this video.

Those are just my two cents but if you wanna tell me what you think then here's the video and make sure to inform me if you want...

Song of the Day 1/22/14

So I've been just kind of dicking around this week in terms of providing content to write about instead opting to just kind of skip yesterday all together while also proceeding to try and listen to a series of newer music to help increase variety and site hits.

Now in my exploits of finding newer songs to say something about I was informed of the Wombats releasing a new single that I proceeded to look up on Spotify and after giving it a listen it's a pretty solidly good tune that's not necessarily as rocking as Tokyo but it's an amusingly moveable tune that I find to get better with multiple listens definitely worth the listen although i will make note it's music video is really messed up.

Sam Reviews A Video: Being Beige-The Smashing Pumpkins

So around midnight or so The Smashing Pumpkins decided to release a new music video for their single "Being Beige," their first since Owata back in 2011 and that was less of an actual video and more of an odd short film involving professional wrestlers which was...unique..but I digress because now we're here at Being Beige and this video is also unique but less in a trying to make a movie but rather showcasing an interesting series of images kind of way.

In some way's the use of a person kind of flailing around on a moving image such as the moon that this video employees is kind of reminiscent of Disarm in a lot of way's with still shots of a very aged and tired looking Billy Corgan just kind of standing there singing this song spliced in between conceptualized imagery that goes from a naked woman on a moon, two naked twins holding each other, said naked twins being lit on fire over the sea on a rock, and some pretty cool shots of a bird all in black and white none-the-less you have a video that's all interesting shots with no real resolve which I personally don't really mind because it's not like he wasn't doing that stuff well over 20+ years ago and at this rate making an interesting little concept film keeps people talking about an already great single so i guess this video is just more interesting then anything.

Feel free to tell me below what you think....
