So one of the pillars of modern music has passed on to the other side today after an 18 month battle with cancer and only a few day's after his 69th birthday and release of his newest album and it's quite crazy to think about when you sit back and realize just how much of an influential and important artist he really was for modern music as a whole across a wide range of genres from glam, alternative, industrial, pop, and everything in between this man dipped his toes into everything and managed to leave an impactful mark on music as a whole that I'm pretty sure will pretty soon be recognized beyond the mans wildest dreams in terms of just how much he really did.
Now with that in mind there's not a whole lot I can really say compared to the variety of touching tributes I've seen all around social media so I think the best thing I really can do is post my personal favorite and the track that got me into this musical chameleon in the form of this timelessly BAD ASS rocker in the form of everyone's favorite fictional rock star.
R.I.P. Bowie The Stars look very different today......
The ongoing rants of one man out to introduce the world to the tunes that inhabit the space inside of that region known as his mind a collection of the songs that have shaped his day, his Song of the Day.

Song of the Day 3/5/15
Pardon the lack of proper...eh fuck it you know what's more amusing then it ever should be? Yelling PUUUUPLE RAIN PURPLE RAIN!!!!!
Yeah I kind of need to take a day to just throw together a series of proper song of the day's because as you can tell winging it just doesn't work to well but even so there are plenty of occasions where I find myself wanting to listen to this 8+ minute Magnum Opus of a track that is every good bit emotional as it is great and for whatever reason I keep finding myself coming straight back to it.
Also on a lesser note I finally listened to Purple Rain the album and I have to say it's surprisingly dated in it's production but the songs are still strong as hell...

Song of the Day 1-10-15
Running Up that Hill- Placebo (Originally Kate Bush)
So rounding out this week of covers is one of my favorite
forgotten and underappreciated 90’s acts in the form of Placebo in one of their
more successful tunes in the form of this dark and dreary electronic heavy
rendition of a Kate Bush classic. This cover is a good example of slowing a
very 80’s synth pop tune and doing it well because I’m not often a fan of
slower kind of sinister rendition of tunes but this one works because Molonko’s
vocal delivery is in the more matured then his 90’s output and their penchant
for adding more electronics to their music is executed well to make this a
great cover to end this week of covers with…
