The ongoing rants of one man out to introduce the world to the tunes that inhabit the space inside of that region known as his mind a collection of the songs that have shaped his day, his Song of the Day.
So 96.5 the Buzz’s yearly prom themed show is coming up and
this year’s headliner is Vance Joy and while that’s pretty damn sweet I had
this idea that I need to convince people to start pushing to have him perform
his cover of All my Life at this show because well…it’s fucking prom so to the
world hashtag the shit outta this video and get him to put it into his prom set
god damnit!

OK so in the shorthand list of covers that I’d honestly say
has to be one of the best this would most certainly be on that list because
here’s a guy taking what’s a semi-forgettable little electronic euro pop tune
and makes it something special. The stripped down and minimal approach from a
very soft and subtle vocalist kind of adds a bit of importance and intrigue to
the lyrics and really takes this song to a place that’s really hard to describe
and at times feels like when Jimmy did Dyllan and basically made another
person’s song his own….
Happy Halloween everyone hopefully you have a great and safe day and when I was trying to come up with the best song to celebrate today I had to dig deep and go to a dark place people.
I mean I really had to ask myself what's the scariest most heavy and haunting tune I could possibly think of and it hit me.........Simon and Garfunkel.........OK I guess I'll attempt to explain.
"Hello Darkness my old friend, I've come to talk to you again," it's a call to the deepest darkest things we all go through people and here we have two folk rock deities looking that darkness straight in the fucking eye and saying...hey what's up and that's fucking heavy people this song is a hushed execution of some strong lyrics that just demand to be screamed and built up to this epic crescendo but they're not instead we have this calm folk tune that just keeps you on edge as it also manages to be one bad ass tune that seemed like the perfect accompaniment to tonight.
Yes this may be an odd assessment but just take a second to really sit back and just listen won't you......to the sound.....OF SILENCE!
So I was tra-la-laing around and recently came across this little cover uploaded about a week ago by one Casi Joy for a cover she'd done of the song Stay With Me by Sam Smith and in all honesty it's pretty bad ass people and if you liked the original I'm sure this stripped down simplified version should sit right.
Also on a lesser note she also recently uploaded some Taylor Swift cover on her Youtube channel for fans of her.
You know it's kind of funny i went to school with a decent number of musically talented individuals that you'd figure I'd hella take the opportunity to help out with some free publicity but I've kind of slacked off and just brushed off what's really just getting more and more defined to become some legitimately bad ass work and that's kind of what's occurred today.
So there's this girl i went to High School with named Casi McCall and she along with this one guy I also went to High School named Bryant Bridges have been working on a little musical outfit known as Cassi Joy and while going through my Facebook newsfeed i finally decided to give their cover of Katy Perry's, "Dark Horse," a listen and while i honestly think the original's a fairly shitty little number they actually have done a BAD ASS job so while I'd love to just write about how cool it really is i think it'd be most justified to let you give it a listen...
