So for whatever reason I just can't get enough of this awesomely new wave tune in the form of Neon Tree's newest ode to a failed relationship in the form of this faced paced energetic rocker, "Songs I can't Listen To," which is an awkwardly appropriate tune when the occasions right and one accurate side effect of relationships gone wrong in it's exclamations of how music really can take you to a time and a place and whenever someone ends something good those songs go with it which is saddening but still at the very least we can all accept it and of course rock out to this song which sounds like it'd of fit nicely tucked away in the middle of Picture Show.
The ongoing rants of one man out to introduce the world to the tunes that inhabit the space inside of that region known as his mind a collection of the songs that have shaped his day, his Song of the Day.

Song of the Day 1-15-15
Our Own House-MisterWives
So one of the most amusingly quirky acts that I got to
discover through opening for Bleachers and just having Reflections blow up on
my local alternative station are getting ready to release a proper full length
album and this seems to be the first selected cut to represent that project and
upon giving this a listen I’m reminded that I actually got to see them perform
this high octane kind of ska infused number live the last time they were in
town.
Like I said this song’s very much a kind of horn heavy blast
of energy that moves at a nice danceable pace with a slight kind of breakdown
at the midpoint that only then goes into a kind of tapering series of really
groovy instruments before very abruptly stopping. It’s a really solid tune that
upon repeated listens should at the very least keep people interested in this
group and maybe give them continued radio support especially in the KC area
when it picks up and the crowds can get as into it as they do when they’re
performing it.

Your Throwback Thursday
Today's Throwback courtesy of my buddy Micheala and her tales of getting her license...
Michaela R.-
This song in particular takes me back to learning to drive, especially learning to drive in my boyfriends car. It was a dinky 2002 gold Sebring that we pushed to it's breaking point. That poor car was where we sped down back county roads with this song blaring (or any Brand New since it was his favorite band) singing at the top of our lungs. I mastered the three point turn to this song, as well as the lost art of parallel parking. Jude Law was the song of my summer in 2008 when I finally figured out that I wanted to pursue photography when I graduated and when I thought that I had my life all figured out. But boy how somethings change. I dumped the boyfriend moved on to a Dodge Ram and even failed the parallel parking portion of my driver's test (by a fraction of an inch).

Song of the Day 2/10/13
Out of My League-Fitz and the Tantrums
You know ever since my little anniversary post I’ve been
listening to Fitz and the Tantrums first album on a pretty steady rotation and
it’s still as bad ass now as it was when I first got it, and of course with
that in mind I figured why not actually take the time to write about how
awesome they are and upon the typing of them into the Youtube search bar I’ve
just come across the fact that they seem to have a new single coming out which
is for lack of a better term…..FUCKING AWESOME!
Ok I’m going into this with a open mind because let’s be
frank you never really want to expect to hear the same thing twice and oh is
this something interesting.
Rather then that very throwback sound that hooked me on this
bad ass little group we have here a very modern sounding little indie rock tune
that has fitz kind of out of place vocals over a very stark kind of echoing
rhythm that’s very steady in a lot of ways, but after a second listen it’s
pretty cool in a lot of ways albeit a little too much like what’s popular on
alternative radio at this moment in time, but also you can’t really blame them
for trying to do something a little different.
So in conclusion what we have here is actually a pretty
strong bit of new music from a band that sadly might only really be a hidden
gem amongst music groups but still a killer chorus with a nice change of sound
is something I can’t find any fault with.
Good job Fitz.
